“So often in life we go the full circle. The moment itself is full of promise, of a hope not previously seen on the horizon. It is a moment when, after months of struggle, you stand atop a hill and raise your arms in victory, knowing the commitment it took to get there.”
-Kym Klass, About Coming Full Circle
MY FULL CIRCLE EXPERIENCE
Hi! My name is Rebecca, a lifelong learner of the body and movement. I am a mom of 3 (within 3.5 years - yes, it was aggressive— HA!) and a wife to my very supportive husband and best friend.
Fitness has been a part of my life since 1999. My first job in highschool was at a local gym where I was first certified in floor aerobics and became a personal trainer. Now, for over 20 years (both as an instructor and a workout enthusiast), my passion for movement and teaching has become deeply rooted in the person I am today. In 2016, I was introduced to the Classical Pilates Method and that had made all the difference. In 2017, I decided to leave my career in marketing automation and committed to learning and teaching Pilates full time. Classical Pilates helped me connect the dots and taught me how to work the body as a whole. It helped me become a better instructor, more attuned to the body in front of me and more strategic towards the series of exercises to give my clients.
My teaching style can be described as warm, energetic, encouraging, motivating, and educational. It centers around the Classical Pilates System circling around Mobility, Body Awareness, Body Control, Strength, and Flexibility. All together, it’s a system that encourages a well rounded fitness regimen. You will sweat, you will feel a cardio burst, you will feel the stretch, and you will work harder, deeper, and more efficiently than you’ve ever had before.
At the end of day, you can expect me to be fully present the whole time. Watching your movements while taking inventory on what works the best for YOUR body. It’s about you, your goals, your needs, and how we can optimize your fitness routine.
The Full Circle Story
What I don’t include in this video is what I got out of my journey in diving deep into learning about Pilates and practicing in for over a decade. I think it is worth the mention. Pilates, among all the other great things it has given me - has taught me and instilled in me “Grounded Confidence”. I came across this concept from a Brené Brown Book. She explains that Grounded Confidence is “the messy process of learning and unlearning, practicing and failing, and surviving a few misses. This brand of confidence is not blustery arrogance or posturing or built on bullshit; it’s real, solid, and built on self-awareness and practice.” I hope to be able to pass this along to everyone that steps in the studio. Hope to meet you soon!
EXPERIENCES THAT SERVED AS A TEACHER AND MENTORS THAT SHAPED THE TEACHER THAT I AM TODAY:
MY WHY.
MARIAN OCAMPO - (JANUARY 1953 - JUNE 2022)
My beautiful, wonderful, loving, kind, compassionate, light hearted, strong, independent, hardworking, brave mother battled kidney disease for 30 years of her life. She was on dialysis for 28 years while raising 4 kids on her own. She was a beacon of light no matter the circumstance and radiated hope and showed resilience in loud actions and not words.
I had the opportunity to care for my mom during the last 5 years of her life. When she lost all independence, we did all we can to regain it back. Unfortunately, her circumstances were different and I watched as her body deteriorated in time. This is my commitment to YOU and to the WORLD. To keep my mom’s bright light in hopes that I can help my community find the importance in movement literacy so that we can live our lives to the fullest - PAIN FREE.
To my mom, I will keep shining your light - BRIGHT AS I CAN - and hope it RIPPLES through the world just as your goodness still RIPPLES through all of us. Hope you’re walking, dancing, running, and jumping in heaven.
Mom, thank you for helping me get to the most important full circle moment of my life. YOU will always be my HERO.
Till we meet again.
